ASSIGNMENT 2 (Week 5-9)
The construction begins by drafting the pattern of the garment. I did my look 1 first, and proceeded to sew.

The progress I made in week 7 was doing the pattern and did 20% of the test fit. This was the shirt before putting the converse logo in front and without the sleeves.

Through week 8 and 9, I completed constructing my test fit. This base is going to be used as a refence for the actual garment, which will be altered according to what I had visualized.
This board presents all the alteration and changes that are going to be made on the actual garment.
FINAL PROJECT - PROCESS
This semester, our project is to make 2 looks of garment in collaboration with Converse, with the theme relating to the American style and brand, and upcycling used shoes into the garment.
We were given 4 pairs of shoes for each person, and were guided on how to deconstruct them.
I took “Breaking the Stigma of the Skateboarding & Street Culture” as my subject, as I think its is an interesting topic and mission to voice out for a misunderstood culture, and to show the true side of it.
This week, we were demonstrated on how we should drape our shoes on the mannequins to apply in our garments. We were also given additional shoes to deconstruct.
We also did our research proposal this week, where I did my mood board. I highlighted the positive aspects of the culture by countering the negative ones.
I mostly took black and white shoes to work on, as it came in the biggest quantity among the other colors, to worry less about shortage of the shoes.
I matched my draping to resemble shoulder pads or wings, to showcase the protective gears use in skateboarding and wings to showcase freedom values.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
I took my inspiration from 1980 - 1990s skater and street style, with the use of shirt layers and plaid pattern.
I developed design A1.3 & AI.5 more and added some elements from the other designs to develop it further.
I colored the final designs, and decided to make one piece of accessory, which is a hat to upcycle with the deconstructed shoes.
FABRIC MANIPULATION SAMPLING
This week, I started to do my sampling for the manipulations that I will put on my garment.
For my first manipulation, I did scribbling with airbrush to resemble vandalized walls to put at the back of the hoodie. It will then be written over by a bigger writing.
For the second manipulation sample, I did the same technique that I did with the first one, but with white on black. This one is relatively harder to do, as multiple layers were needed to make the color opaque enough to show.
The construction started with cutting the pattern. I did my jorts first, as it will relatively take longer to construct than the shirt.
This was the progression when the back panel was done being sewed.
After the panels are stitched together, it is finally wearable.
I moved to work on the shirt. Before sewing the panels together, I started by making the patched texture for the shirt front.
Then, I proceeded to join the collar and zipper with the main part.
This was the test fitting with the model after the look is completed.
LOOK 2 CONSTRUCTION
After look 1 is done, I proceeded to cut my pattern for look 2..jpeg)

I redid my pattern and sewed it to the bodice.
The first step I did for my jeans was sewing the star pockets.

After the panels are done sewed, I inserted the pleated plaids to the knee panel.

This was the test fit of the completed base.
Then, I painted the scribbling inside the hoodie's and shirt's back panels, and painted the shoelaces, followed by doing a big writing on the hoodie's back after the first layer dried.
.jpeg)
I painted and distressed a hat, then sewed the shoes on the back of it.
I marked the hood during the test fit to know where the hood will fall with the wings, and sewed it accordingly.
